Improved oral health means that in general people are keeping their own teeth for longer than in years gone by. This also means that they will be more susceptible to gum disease as they get older. For patients who come to see the hygienist regularly there may be one or two areas around their mouth which just won't respond to normal treatment. For them we have Periochip. This very small insert contains 2.5mg chlorhexidine digluconate (the same drug that is contained in many well-known mouthwashes) but in a much higher concentration and by inserting the chip at the seat of the problem, much better results can be achieved. We recommend chip insertion every 12 weeks over a 9 month period to gain the full benefit. If you would like further information please contact the practice today.
