Bridges

Losing a tooth not only affects how you feel about your appearance, it can also lead to further dental health complications. When one or more teeth are missing, the remaining teeth can drift out of position, which can lead to a change in the bite, more decay, gum disease, and loss of additional teeth.

When tooth loss occurs, we may recommend the placement of a bridge. Bridges are cost-effective solutions to tooth loss when there is just one or a few teeth that need replacing. They comprise one or more replacement teeth anchored by crowns on adjacent teeth.

Dental bridges are commonly used when there is just a single or a few missing teeth. They're suitable if you have strong, healthy teeth on either side of the gap that are able to support them. If surrounding teeth have been weakened by extensive decay or root canal work, they may not be able to support a bridge.

If you are suitable for a bridge, our dentists will prepare the supporting teeth so that they can carry the bridge and then will take impressions of your mouth to ensure a perfect fit. When the bridge has been made, our dentists will cement it in place and make any necessary adjustments so that the bridge will give you a very natural looking smile.
